Boxing Gloves - Caitlin Flood-Molyneux
Caitlin Flood-Molyneux is a contemporary Welsh artist who explores the connections between pop culture imagery and personal emotions and memories. Drawing inspiration from DADA and early Pop Art, they create collages of found images that reflect their subjective experiences of hardship, such as love, loss, grief, and anger. They then paint over these images with various media, such as oil paint and aerosol, to express their feelings in an abstract and gestural way. Their work is both autobiographical and universal, as it invites the viewer to relate to their visual stories and to reflect on their own past. Their use of historical imagery is also significant, as it represents the memories that they want to convey. Their artworks are not only visual, but also auditory, as they evoke the nostalgia of listening to a familiar song.
