Let’s extend a warm welcome to Kate Brinkworth, a British artist based north of Birmingham. She has recently joined our Circle and now graces the walls of our gallery.
Kate is known for her vibrant and seductive paintings that often depict dice, cocktails, and film stills. Her work explores the allure of colour and light, the seductive appeal of vice, and the hypnotic language of film. Her works are inherently allegorical, symbolizing a range of entities, the dice elements evoke questions about fate, chance, and the unexpected.
She eloquently explains, ‘Perhaps these objects drew me in precisely because they are entangled in forces greater than themselves.’”
Brinkworth's approach initially involved creating still life arrangements with intriguing items and capturing these in photorealistic paintings. Through her art, she relished in adding more detail than a photo could only dream of having and played with intense colours and light to make objects appear so much more alluring.
In essence, her work could be seen as an 'Amplified Reality.'
